If the fall falls and the winter is cold.

So, lately I have been bored.

Whenever I get stressed out and my brain gets full I get overwhelmingly bored.

Nothing that I normally like to do sounds exciting and I lose all of my creativity because I can't do the brain dumping, unwinding activities that I need to do to keep my sanity.

Needless to say, I haven't done any writing and almost no blogging over the past few weeks.

I've had some killer ideas lately and I promised myself that I would finish at least one of my stories this year so I need to get moving.

Stick with it. Stay the course. Mind your P's and Q's. Only take candy from strangers. And most importantly, avoid your crazy uncle Nick.

Everytime I look at you I go blind.

Yeeeeee-haw.

We went to see The Dark Knight on Friday.

LOVED IT.

Heath Ledger was by far the star. If you didn't know it was him you would have no idea. It provided everything I expected from the new Batman series of movies and I enjoyed the entire movie.

If you have even a passing interest, I would recommend it.

Maxine went to see Mamma Mia last night. She loved it. I can't wait to see it on DVD. Musicals are awesometastic.

Tomorrow we are going to see Hellboy 2. Damn summer movies. We can go 8-9 months without going out to a movie and now this will be 4-5 movies in about a month. There is just a lot out we want to see right now.

Twilight

Those of you who have read and loved the Twilight series as much as me will appreciate this. I was looking up trailers and whatnot today and while I was on Stephenie Meyers web site I noticed a new book title listed. Breaking Dawn is coming out on Aug 2 and I am super excited about that. But there was also one listed called Midnight Sun. It is a book she is working on to tell Edwards story parallel to twilight. The first chapter is accessible from the site. I read it and it is damn good and makes a nice little tide me over till I am sitting comfortably absorbed by Breaking Dawn. I hope I don't have to wait too long for the full version of Midnight sun.
Read and Enjoy!!!

Eggplant is your friend.

The night before last we watched Superhero Movie.

Boy-howdy was it funny. Not funny in that sophisticated, cerebral way.
Funny in the "pull my finger" way.

And sometimes, that is just what you need.

Although I wouldn't highly recommend it, and I am sure I won't buy it, it is definately worth adding to Netflix or picking up at Redbox.

The Fried Chicken is Soggy.

Wheee!

We saw two movies this weekend. One on DVD and one at the theaters.

On Saturday we went to see Hancock. I freakin loved that movie. If you haven't seen it, I strongly encourage it.

Later that night, we watched The Bucket List. Also a great, great movie.

I'm not feeling very chatty tonight so I will skip on the details, but watch them.

Pardon our dust.

I know I am a geek.

I love and embrace it.

I wouldn't have it any other way. And when it's all said and done, I amuse myself and that is almost all that matters.

While I was making dinner tonight, I overheard a commercial for "So You Think You Can Dance." It said that Katy Perry was going to sing her song, "I Kissed a Girl" on tonight's episode.
Me, being the loving dad that I am, said "Andrew, what song is she going to sing?"
To which he, of course, replied "I kissed a girl."
And then I promptly got to tease him about kissing a girl.
So damn much fun. Since girls are still gross in his world it was priceless entertainment.

Don't always jump to conclusions...

You know, most people have a tendency to judge a situation before they know all the facts.

A man was sprawled across three entire seats in a theater. When the usher came by and noticed this, he whispered to the man, "Sorry sir, but you're only allowed one seat."

The man groaned but didn't budge. The usher became impatient.

"Sir," the usher said, "if you don't get up from there, I'm going to have to call the manager."

Again, the man just groaned, which infuriated the usher who turned and marched briskly back up the aisle in search of his manager. In a few moments, both the usher and the manager returned and stood over the man. Together the two of them tried repeatedly to move him, but with no success. Finally, they summoned the police. The cop surveyed the situation briefly.

"All right, buddy. What's your name?"

"Sam," the man moaned.

"Where ya from, Sam?" the cop asked.

"The balcony."

my 2 cents

I have to say that Mark was being a grumpy butt and I think that may have contributed to him not liking it. Me and the kids liked it. Wall-e is cute . There is a lot of music and not a lot of talking. It reminded me in some ways of old loony toons or tom and jerry that told stories with music. Give it a chance.

Oh, the agony!!!

Yesterday we took the kids to see Wall-E.
Personally, I voted for Hancock. The vote was 4-1.
Yeah. I really thought Jeff would have my back.

On a scale of 1 to 10, I would say my desire to see Wall-E was about a 1.
I wasn't disappointed. I tried to get myself all amped up by reading reviews (which raved about it) and watching trailers. It didn't work.

Don't get me wrong, I am a HUGE Pixar fan and it was well made. I loved the message and all of that. But it was so boring. I was bored the entire film. If you look at the other Pixar films and compare them, you will see what I mean.

Ug.

What did you think of it? (If you've seen it)

Funny Games

Last night we watched Funny Games. I have been excited to see it since the first commercial I saw.
Most of the time I forget about movies I want to see while we are waiting for them to get to DVD but Maxine remembered this one for me.

I was not disappointed.

Maxine said she hated it. I think that is because it has all the elements needed for a really great horror movie. The lead baddies were creepy as hell. The main heroes were normal type people. (Although they were a bit on the pansy side)
It was a balance of predictable and unpredictable. But most importantly, it didn't rely on gore or nudity to make it's case. Almost all of the violence happened off camera.
That is a big plus in my book. Any horror movie that can be disturbing without being gory is doing something right.

As if there were any other possibilities.

Do you watch where you are going?
When you walk, when you act, when you talk?

I think that people that say "I don't care what people think" usually only say that because they know they are jerks. (And usually they are proud of it)

There is a difference between caring what people think and letting it influence you. Its called being considerate. You can still be your own person without flaunting yourself in front of everyone.

If you were trying to change your life, would you tell anyone?
If you do, does that mean you are doing it for attention, or that you are actually trying to better yourself?

If you become friends with your co-workers, and you start looking for a new job, should they support you?
