Books and books and books...

Maxine and I were talking the other day and she asked me what book I was currently reading . (We are both *ALWAYS* in the middle of some book or other. Come to think of it, so are the kids...)
So the book I am reading right now is American Gods. It is one of my favorite books of all time by my favorite author of all time. She asked why I can re-read some books 1000 times but I fail to finish most of the books I start. I didn't have an answer at the time but I think I do now.
For me, books are like comfort food. I love to try different kinds all the time. I love to experiment. Sometimes I like them, some times I don't, but I always have my comfort books to fall back on.

So here is the top of my comfort book list:
Good Omens
The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy
Ender's Game
American Gods
Neverwhere

Baby hungry

Every time I think my biological clock has quieted down and I am cool with not having babies any more. Someone has to come along and remind me why I miss babies and toddlers so much. This time I blame Rochelle. I watched Corbin and Dexter during the day a few days while she was on her cruise. They are so cute and such good kids.
Corbin did cry at having to leave Grandma and Grandpa in the morning. But I didnt take it personally cuz 2 minutes into the ride to my house he was fine. He is just smart enough to know that I will not spoil him quite as much as Grandma and Grandpa. He sang his ABC's for me and we read some books and played some games.
I was a little afraid of how Dex would take to me, cuz I know how much he loves him Mamma. Amazingly, he loved me. He was so happy all the time and wanted hugs and to be held. It has been a long time since I just got to hold a kid. He would spin and giggle. He played pikaboo. In one game of pikaboo he was walking away looking over his shoulder at me and grinning showing all his little gappy teeth. I had a huge Regin flashback. He has her same wispy blonde hair, gray blue eyes, and gappy grin. I nearly cried.
Friday afternoon when I headed home I said goodbye to Corbin who waved merrily, but Dex was asleep so I couldnt say goodbye. I hope next time he sees me he remembers me, cuz dang I spent just a few hours a day with those cuties and I am missing them so much now.

Don't be a hater.

Regular readers know I have uber respect for the Dalai Lama.
He is the ultimate Mr. Cool in my book.

I wrote a post a little while back about how the Chinese government called him a terrorist.
I'm still pissed off when I think about it.

As many of you know, I have long harbored an irrational dislike for France.

Thankfully, people change.

While I am not going to start taking French lessons, I am trying to keep an open mind lately. I notice myself stereotyping people and it really bothers me.

Anyways, I am rambling on. The point I am trying to make is that I read this article and think Paris might be alright in my book.

C'est la vie!

My kids are cooler than yours.

Don't be jealous. They have better genes.

It's about damn time...

I was pretty excited when I read this article.
It is a small step but a step all the same.

Maybe some day, the world will pull it's head out of its !#$! and all people will be equal.

Let's hope together.

I almost peed.

So, you know, I am kind of dork.
I saw this video:

And thought it was freakin hilarious.

For those of you that can't figure it out, he is giving himself the ole "high-five" because his teammates wouldn't.

Oh that is great stuff.

Zip Ties.

Woo!

Such a busy weekend.
I'm glad I took today off from work to recover.

I skipped the concert on Thursday night. I am kind of regretting it now but it was probably the best move. I hear it was a helluva show but the tickets were $40.00 each.

Jeff and I had a blast on Friday morning. We went to the driving range and to Barnes & Noble.
It's a lot of fun to hang out with him and goof off.

He wanted rootbeer floats instead of cake for his birthday. I forgot how much I love those.

We also had a lot of Maxine's family over this weekend. We played ALOT of rockband and had a generally great time.
Her parents stayed with us while they were in town for Soren's blessing.
I topped the weekend off by watching Sweeney Todd, which I have been dying to see. (Get it? Thats funny) I think I might have loved it but am not quite sure.

Today I get to hang out with two of my nephews. (Corbin and Dexter) That will be fun because neither of them especially like me but I can win them over.

Stay tuned for you local news...

Today might be one of the best in my life...

As you all know, my kids are some of the coolest people you will ever meet. (It must be good parenting...or not.)

Today I get the opportunity to hang out with one of my best friends in the world. It's his birthday and I took the day off so I could spend it with him.
We are going to go golfing together, go out for lunch, and hang out at Barnes & Noble to buy some books. (Interestingly enough it is both of our favorite store)
We will probably spend most of the day laughing and making inappropriate comments but its not everyday you turn 13.

I am so excited I had a hard time sleeping last night.

Who's birthday is it? It almost feels like mine.

If I remember to take pictures, I will post them later.

Moooo-Veeee

Maxine and I love to watch movies. We seldom ever go to movies but we watch a ton of movies.
Even back to when we were dating. Our first date was hanging out and watching videos.
Here is a list of my top 10 movies of all time (Keep in mind that several are movie series. I think thats ok. HEY! Its my blog! I can do what I want):
In no particular order:

Ok, so if you count them all, this is my top 22 list but....oh well.
Honorable mention goes to

Some of the movies jump around based on what I've seen lately but most of the top 10 has been intact for years.

What is your top 10 list?

Amazazing

This falls under the "way freakin' cool" category.
Watch episodes of Star Trek on CBS.com.

I'm as giddy as a school girl.

Commander in chief....

I read the funniest article this morning in USA Today.
It said that President Bush is going to deliver a speech on Thursday to update the nation on Iraq.
Instead of delivering the speech during prime time, when most of America could watch it, he will deliver it during the day. This doesn't really bother me because he gives a lot of his speeches during the day, as all Presidents have.
What I thought was hilarious was that after the speech, he "is scheduled to head to Texas for a few days of rest at his Crawford ranch."

It must be tiring to do all that readin' and talkin' and using them big words.

I hope our next president is a more effective speaker and less entertaining to watch. Don't get me wrong, I love a good laugh, but it shouldn't be at the expense of our President.

The Dalai Lama is a terrorist.

That's right. You heard me.
I found out this morning that one of the people I respect most in this world is a terrorist.
Never mind that he has devoted his life to peace and he is a complete and total pacifist.
Read for yourself.
What a crock.
As you will gather from the article, the Dalai Lama is not directly linked to these people. They do not claim to be affiliated with him.
The Chinese government wants him and so they will twist the truth to make it conform to their needs.

Ahhh, the joys of being a communist regime.

Yummy.

Oh man.
I love Mediocre Films.

Check out the YouTube.

Yes, it's inappropriate.
It's also funny as hell.

I watch a lot of their stuff and have loved almost all of it.

Whatever.

There are a ton of things I have been thinking about tonight. Not the least of which is WHY DONT I PLAY POKER ANYMORE?

Its too cold for golf.
Its too cold for tennis.

That leaves RockBand and Poker.
Everything else is just a light.

Oh, and there are blogs. Holy cats are there blogs. I think a good part of why I post so infrequently could be that I am spending so damn much time reading other blogs.
I have 19 blogs in my toolbar. Freaking hell.
I guess I just know too many interesting people. You know who you are.
If you have a blog and I don't read it, let me know. I may start.

Why are you jealous of me?

So I was talking to a single friend of mine the other day. (You know who you are, you slimy bastard) We were talking about how different things are now that we are both getting older.
10 years ago, most of the married guys we know were jealous of the single guys. The freedom to do whatever you want, whenever you want, and the freedom of spending what you earn. Personally, I never really understood it, but I am a freak.
Now that we are in our thirties, we both agreed that the "still single" guys are often jealous of the married guys. I don't get that either. Maybe it's the wisdom of years that makes people want to be married. I don't know. Thats what we couldn't figure out.
I don't have the right perspective because I have always wanted to be married and have kids. (as far back as I can remember anyways) That, plus the fact that I am married to a smokin' hottie, means I haven't had to go through the "I wish I were single" days.
He, the slimy bastard, has been screwed over enough times that he doesn't want to get married. So, I guess we were talking in stereotypes that neither one of us fit. Maybe we were completely wrong.

It wouldn't be the first time.
