Good Friday
To follow is a post I wrote on Friday that I didn't get around to posting until this morning;
------------
As many of you know, I am an agnostic. Most people confuse being an agnostic with being an atheist. They are not the same, and in my opinion are not even close. But the purpose of this post is not an expression of my personal beliefs.
On my way home from work today I was listening to Glenn Beck, which I do every night on the way home. I seldom agree with his viewpoints but I respect his intelligence and humor. Today he played a piece about the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. It was one of the most powerful things I have ever heard in my life. Ever.
I was driving home with tears running down my face. I believe that Jesus Christ existed. It is fairly well documented. I do not know if he was the "son of God" but I believe he was a great man. I believe a great many things but I do not know them. The treatment he had to endure breaks my heart. The influence he has had over countless generations of people, Christian or otherwise, is amazing. I encourage you, if you are a person of faith, to embrace your faith and your beliefs. Live your religion. Be the best person you can imagine being.
---------------
I wish I could have shared the experience with all of you. I listened to it again this morning and wow. It is so well done. It's not preachy. It's not presumptuous. It is a retelling of one man's tortuous ordeal two thousand years ago. If you already listen to Glenn Beck then you probably heard it. If not, I'm sorry. I have put in a request for permission to link it here but doubt it will be granted. It is part of the Insider services which is a premium subscription and I am pretty sure my subscription doesn't give me reproduction rights.
I will let you know.
