Walking in the rain

Don't you just love the fall? I do. I love all the changing leaves the best. There are some in our back yard that are always the first to change and they always go wonderful shades of red. I love wearing sweaters and turtlenecks and hoodies. It is my favorite time of year.
Mark and I have started walking the path across the street that goes around all the rich people houses. We try to walk right after Mark gets home from work. Last night we went to get costumes so we didn't walk until 8:00 p.m. It was raining, but we went anyway. We were wearing our hoodies with the hoods pulled up and everything. You would think it is crazy that we would still go when it was dark and cold and rainy, but it was so much fun. Walking gives us time together. We talk and giggle just like teenyboppers. By the time we got home our jeans and hoodies were soaked, and we were happy as clams.

What are you reading?

I am constantly amazed at how people, myself included, can be tainted by the half-truths propagated by the news media.
I was always curious during the Bush v Kerry election why the swiftboat veterans spoke out so strongly against Kerry. I assumed, without bothering to check the facts, that these proud veterans were telling the truth and John Kerry was a weasel and a liar.
I haven't changed my opinion about Kerry, but it would appear that the swiftboat vets were "less than honest." (I say that because it would hurt me to call a Vietnam vet a damn liar.)
I may be a little bit slow to catch up on events, the election being 3 years past, but I have been reading Al Franken's book, "The Truth" and it got me thinking. I did some additional reading and it made me very angry.
There are so many topics that get skewed reporting in the media. I am afraid that the days of honest, objective reporting are gone. Everything appears to be an op-ed piece.
Maybe I am just cynical.
I hope so.

Our amazing kids

We have the most amazing children ever. Our first born is brilliant, he just entered middle school. He has strait A's and is in every honors class they offer. He is in academic club and book club. He must take after Mark cuz I was terrible at school. The teenage years are just around the corner and that is scary. More for me than for him I think. He is so serious and is already talking about college so I hope things will keep going in the right direction.
Our beautiful daughter is so talented. She has been playing piano for 3 or 4 months and is so determined, she practices all on her own. It is exciting to hear her play. She is a fashion diva, loves tween girly pop songs. She is so helpful and does nothing halfway. She is a hard worker and never gives up.
Our baby boy (don't tell him I called him that though) is the funniest kid in the world. He will do anything to get a laugh. His brother is his biggest fan. He is smart, but doesn't take anything too seriously. He has been doing math since he could talk, not that we taught him math early. He just instinctual knows how things work. He is good with his hands and loves to build stuff and commandeers anything that is broken in the house to take it apart and study it. He is also super cute. Usually little kids are called cute, he is almost 9 and I still hear how cute he is all the time.

I am so proud to be a mom. My kids are the best thing I have ever had the privilege of being involved with. Even with all the problems in the world I know that the future will be okay because of people like my children. I hope that they understand how much they mean to me.

My World is abuzzzzzzzz

Any time the Bears beat the Packers there is much cause for celebration.

When they do it during a season like this it is just that much better.

Griese in, same result...

Well, the hammer was dropped. The trigger was pulled. Yadda dadda boo boo.

The Bears pulled Grossman, inserted Griese and still lost.
1 TD, 3 INT. Sounds a lot like Rex, right?

Well, I still see it as a positive change.

Yes, they lost, but they also posted 27 points against a suprisingly good Lions team. I am doing my best to remain positive and I see a light on the horizon.

GO BEARS!!!
